Verilogue Announces Planetree International Conference Solution Session

Peeling Back the Layers: Exploring Perceptions of and Practices for Patient Engagement.

Horsham, Pennsylvania, September 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Today, Verilogue, the healthcare dialogue experts, announced the details of their solution session taking place at The Planetree International Conference later this year. The session entitled Peeling Back the Layers: Exploring Perceptions of and Practices for Patient Engagement will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 2:45 PM -3:15 PM at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, Maryland.

The Planetree International Conference focuses on how to invest in engaging patients, their family caregivers, and the healthcare workforce. Their patient-centered solutions move beyond big data to connect with people, by encouraging them to share their personal stories, circumstances, their struggles, obstacles, and opportunities related to their health and wellness.

Verilogue’s mission aligns strongly with the ethos of the conference. They provide insights into real conversations between doctors and patients, access to over 127,000 recorded interactions, and the medical linguistic expertise needed to gain a clear understanding of reality at the point-of-care.

Their solution session will be presented by Elizabeth Baldys, MA, Senior Analyst at Verilogue. Her presentation will focus on unearthing what drives patient engagement and how that engagement is achieved by the understanding that patients are individuals who experience and live their disease uniquely. Based on this knowledge, she will then share approaches to increasing engagement put in practice, and analyze their effectiveness through linguistic ethnography.

Her solution session examines how during in-office appointments, we see physicians overwhelmingly dominating the conversational floor and patients taking a backseat. She then unpacks the possible reasons for the patient's lack of participation in the conversation, and what we can do to change the situation. She posits that perhaps we are asking the wrong questions regarding the dialog imbalance. Through the introduction of tape-recorded in-office dialogues, online posts, and peer groups, Baldys will lead the audience to explore a multidimensional approach to patient engagement and strategies for improvement.

Participants will leave the solution session with a greater understanding of the multifaceted nature of engagement. They will be able to identify essential tools for researching patient engagement and targeting patient needs, as well as recognizing and evaluating strategies for impacting patient engagement.

Registration is now open for The Planetree International Conference.
